Since opening in 1987 with a professional tournament, this Tenerife championship venue has hosted the sport's elite at the highest level — most notably the Tenerife Open on the PGA European Volvo Tour in 1989, 1992, 1993 and 1994, where José María Olazábal claimed the first two editions before David Gilford and Mark James took the honours.
