About Vilamoura – Pinhal Course
The Pinhal Course at Vilamoura is Frank Pennink's second design at the resort, opened in 1976 through a dense forest of umbrella pines that gives the course its name (pinhal means pine forest in Portuguese). The tree-lined fairways demand accuracy off the tee and create a shaded, intimate atmosphere distinct from Vilamoura's more open layouts. A classic Algarve parkland experience, the Pinhal is particularly popular during summer for the welcome shade offered by its mature pine canopy.
