Boavista Golf & Spa Resort

The Championship course at Boavista Golf Resort opened in January 2002 and has rapidly gained a reputation as one of the best value courses on the Algarve.

This impressive 18-hole championship course is anticipated to offer exceptional playing conditions. It is designed by Howard Swan MSc, past president of The European Institute of Golf Course Architects. His philosophy – to create a course as if it has always been there – is being sensitively applied at Boavista golf course preserving, integrating and harmonizing with the area’s natural terrain. His father, Alec, was responsible for the construction management of the Algarve’s first course, the Penina, which was designed by the late Sir Henry Cotton in the 1960’s.

Boavista offers two distinct sections providing a variety of attractive and interesting holes, from the first tee shot to the last putt on the 18th green. Umbrella pines, blossoming almond, fig, palm and olive trees line the rolling fairways, weaving their way between water hazards and shrewdly placed bunkers. Breathtaking views, spectacular scenery and the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean, which is visible from most holes, all combine to make this course a delight for golfer and visitor alike.
