About The Kinloch Club

“Designing a golf course is my total expression. My golf game can only go on so long. But what I have learned can be put into a piece of ground and that will last beyond me.” - Jack Nicklaus

Golf at the Jack Nicklaus designed The Kinloch Club is often compared to the classic link courses in Scotland and Ireland. However, instead of traditional sea views, this world-class championship Par 72 course is positioned between panoramic views of Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest fresh-water lake, and the natural beauty of rugged rural farmland.  Ranked as New Zealand’s number one golf course  a select team of New Zealand Golf Professionals.

The only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course to be built in New Zealand, Kinloch showcases a design philosophy that aims to enhance the natural environment – allowing the surroundings of the stunning Taupo region to shape each hole. The Kinloch Club was voted in the top 10 new golf courses in the world by US Travel and Leisure golf magazine (the only course outside of North America to feature in that prestigious list). Although technically not a true links course, it cleverly merges aspects of both links and parkland course design.

The Par 72 course is an eye-catching centrepiece in the dramatic New Zealand landscape overlooking Lake Taupo and provides a uniquely challenging course that has golf enthusiasts returning for more. Nicklaus uses natural features to enhance shot values so that golfers can work on every aspect of their game – an approach that has earned him an enviable reputation. Experienced golfers consider every hole at this 18-hole course to be a Signature hole, where a certain depth of mystery repeatedly defies players to find their best landing shots onto the green.  Rugged bunkers are strewn across the course, adding to the challenge and provide a confronting picture as players tee off. The fairways are contoured and conditioned for ground play and possess New Zealand’s finest drainage making it arguably the country’s best all season course.

To enhance the golf experience, The Lodge at Kinloch opened in January 2016, offering a luxury resort experience designed by multi-award winning Andrew Patterson of Patterson Architects.  Perhaps New Zealand’s best internationally known and published architect.  The Lodge interiors have been masterfully designed by Virginia Fisher who is renowned for her work involving luxury lodges and hotels both in New Zealand and around the world.

Patterson and Fisher have applied their formidable skills on the exterior and interior design creating expansive accommodation spaces of 1 and 2-bedroom villas. All feature stunning nature inspired designer elements including vista windows of the lake and course, huge log fireplaces, sensational marble bathrooms and secluded furnished terraces.

A world-class restaurant using produce reared from the private 2000 ha owners estate adheres to the ‘Estate to Plate’ organic philosophy where possible, of course matched with New Zealand and worlds best wines. Complementing the sporting of the internationally recognised golf course is a resort offering excellent in-lodge and villa entertainment facilities, an onsite spa specialising in sporting therapeutic and organic wellness treatments, an awesome infinity pool, a gym and tennis courts. The Lodge is also an unequalled new choice for weddings, conferences, private golf tournaments and very much more.

The Kinloch Club Golf Course has an impressive array of facilities and services including a 3 tier grass tee practice area/range, putting and chipping green facilities, golf shop, fleet of electric carts, hire clubs and trundlers, on course PGA golf professionals and a Clubhouse restaurant and licenced bar. Both the golf course and the Clubhouse have been designed to stringent standards and specifications to meet the Jack Nicklaus design and international golfing requirements.

Kinloch Club’s course and facilities are open 7 days per week throughout the year.
