Il Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & Spa is located in Sicily, on the north-eastern slopes of Mount Etna, just to the west of Taormina and beside the boundary between the national parks of Etna, the Nebrodi and the Alcantara River. Il Pìcciolo Etna Golf Club was the first golf course to have been built in Sicily and it opened in 1989. It was designed by the Italian architect Luigi Rota Caremoli. The 18-hole par 72 course measures 5,870 metres from the back tees and offers a driving range and putting and pitching greens. There are breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and in particular of the huge looming figure of Mount Etna. The fact that the golf course is situated some 650 metres above sea level ensures pleasantly cool temperatures in the warm summer months, and yet mild temperatures on sunny winter days, thus permitting year round golf.
